close supervision of a mentor and for a minimum of 160 hours, the
undergraduate select internship provides real-world knowledge
through the performance of a variety of functions including, but
not limited to, general office duties and high-quality execution of
engagements and special projects of entry-level staff across
Nebraska’s Judicial Branch. The undergraduate select intern builds
skills by working closely with experienced staff, clients and the
public involved with the Nebraska court system, probation offices
and/or the Office of Public Guardian. Undergraduate select interns
will take part in hands on participation and planning and will
attend regular staff and client meetings and/or court sessions.
While contributing to the mission of the Judicial Branch,
experiential learning will lead to skill development and give
opportunity to meet a variety of people in the profession, allowing
the select-intern to form relationships that can be built upon in
the future. Location: Grand Island, Nebraska Salary: $15.13 per
hour JOB DUTIES 1. Shadow Judicial Branch staff and provide
assistance where appropriate. 2. Participate in staff, client, and
stakeholder meetings. 3. Observe court sessions. 4. Provide routine
information to the public through various means of communication.
5. Create informational and promotional materials. 6. Organize and
promote Judicial Branch events or program activities. 7. Compile
and maintain records, including routine data entry functions, and
assume responsibility for accuracy and completeness. 8. Operate
most office machines including computers. 9. Perform related work
as required. Requirements/ Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in the social sciences, criminal
justice, or related fields. All educational credits must be granted
from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of
Education. Location: Grand Island, Nebraska Salary: $15.13 per hour
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Must be motivated, organized, and
possess good communication skills. Maintain a high level of ethics
and serves as a role model for justice-involved individuals.
Ability to work with many different kinds of people and to adapt to
a variety of situations. Ability to participate within a
multi-disciplinary team as well as acting autonomously as
appropriate. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Typing and data entry skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint, with a general understanding of data
analysis techniques. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to
professionally represent Judicial Branch. Ability to meet recurring
deadlines, ability to effectively organize time, set priorities,
