----Job Summary/PurposeThis position is responsible forthe nursing care of patients under the direction and supervision of theRegistered Nurse Preceptor as well as implementation and documentation of thedelegated and/or supervised cares of all assigned patients according toestablished procedures. Cares are in accordance with assigned tasks andpermitted by the Nursing Skills Checklist.The student intern cares forpatients with a variety of acute to critical medical/surgical problems rangingfrom neonates to geriatrics at various developmental levels. Patients are fromboth traditional and nontraditional family structures with a variety ofsociocultural and educational backgrounds.--Key Job Responsibilities Implements the steps of the nursing process (i.e. assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation) when providing direct patient care a level consistent with education and within Student Nurse Intern's duties and responsibilities. Contributes to the assessment of health status of individuals including interactions of individuals with family members or group members. Contributes to establishment of nursing diagnoses which identify(ies) the needs of the client/patient. Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through hourly rounding, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures. Contributes in the development of the plan of care for individuals. Performs and works to ensure safe, knowledgeable, age-specific patient care. Authorized to make entries in the medical record, consistent with and limited to scope of job duties and applicable licensure.------Required EducationActively enrolledand in good standing in an accredited nursing program with an anticipatedgraduation date between December 2020-August 2021--RequiredLicense and CertificationsBLS or BLSinstructor certification required upon hire. Refer to policy "Licensed,Certified, and Registered Employees" for acceptable life support cards.----Active state registry as aNurse Aide (CNA) ----Required/MinimumKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesKnowledge of nursingtheory and practice acquired through successful completion of equivalent ofjunior year of Baccalaureate nursing curriculum.--Interpersonalskills necessary in order to gather and exchange information with preceptor,co-workers, physicians, patient family, visitors and other hospital personnel.Analyticalskills necessary to develop and implement effective nursing care and beginningproblem-solving measures for patient's physical, psychosocial, and spiritualwell-being.Ability toconcentrate and pay attention to detail when planning and implementing nursingcare, resolving patient care problems, and communicating with patients andfamilies.Additional Information
