The Variable Incentive Program is a nursing pool developed by CHI Health & Avantas, specifically for flexible nurses who desire the experience of providing high quality care to patients across multiple nursing departments. These incentivized shifts reflect the needs not covered by Core Staff and the Scheduled Resource Team. How will my rate of pay for the VIP be determined? Your base rate of pay, merit increases, shift differentials and holiday pay are given in an identical manner as for all core staff. Because VIP is designed to value experience and flexibility the Commitment and Incentive pay are as follows:

  • Commitment: 24 hours every 2 pay periods (4 weeks)
  • Required to work in all Inpatient Medical Surgical, Step Down, Critical Care, on-site Behavioral and at a minimum on-site Ante/Post-Partum in Women's Services.
  • Pay Incentive is paid for all scheduled direct patient care hours worked, up to 60 hours per week.
    • Tech Incentives: $1-5 / hour
    • LPN Incentives: $1-20 / hour
    • RN Incentives: $1-20 / hour VIP is for you, if you wish to:
      • Be rewarded for your experience and flexibility by working in multiple nursing departments within a hospital.
      • Have flexibility in building your own schedule.
      • Maximize your income. VIP is not for you, if you:
        • Wish the stability of working on a single unit or require a reliable, cyclical schedule.
        • Require a full menu of employee benefits. Job Summary / Essential Duties:
          • Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.
          • Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents/problems.
          • Performs nursing procedures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgment of a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures.
          • Prepares and assists patients with meals. Feeds patients as directed. Distributes nourishments and drinking water.
          • Assures patient privacy while providing personal and routine care.
          • Establishes and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
          • Offers to assist co-workers and all team members to complete work assignments.
          • Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to planning patient care.
            QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Must be at least 16 years of age. Nurse Assistants must be on the Nurse Aide Registry of the State in which they work . Basic Life Support: BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Experience : Preferred: Six months experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : Ability to organize and prioritize work. Job requires individual and group interaction. Job requires continuous verbal communication skills, frequent reading skills, written communication skills, and computer skills.
