ICU/Critical Care RN in Kearney, Nebraska, 68847! Job Title: ICU RN
Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Artificial nails are prohibited in all
departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will
lead to termination of contract. Registered Nurses must pass a
weekly exam during orientation. This is an open book exam on skills
learned, and RNs will be given all necessary resources to pass. A
minimum score of 90% is required to pass; failure to achieve this
may result in termination. Self-scheduling is allowed for core
staff, with travelers needing to adhere to set schedules. Minimum
of 2 holidays are required during the contract period. Weekend
requirements include working every other weekend. RNs are required
to titrate drips as needed. Description: The unit consists of 33
beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. Nurse-to-patient
ratios are 1:2-3 for adults. Common diagnoses include trauma,
cardiac conditions, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent
care, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure,
heart failure, and respiratory distress. RNs are expected to read,
interpret, and document telemetry strips. They will also manage
titratable and set rate drips, such as cardiac, insulin, and
sedation drips. Healthcare support technicians are available to
assist based on patient volume. RNs may be required to float to
other units, such as PCU or MedSurg, maintaining the same patient
ratio of 1:4 or 1:5. RNs will troubleshoot respiratory equipment
when necessary. The charting system in use is EPIC. 5 Benefits of
