Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Grand Island, NE Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,272 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Grand Island, Nebraska, 68803! Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Driver's license required Description: Department: Stepdown Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Radius Rule: 50 miles. Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the health system. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract. RNs are required to pass a pass/fail exam during orientation. An open book exam on skills learned will be provided. Candidates are given all necessary resources to pass. A 90% passing score is required to remain employed. Unit includes 33 beds. Nurse to Patient Ratios are 1:4-5. Common diagnoses/types of patients include: Young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and patients with complex medical issues including multisystem failure. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin. Charge Nurse is available on each shift and does take an assignment. CNA ratio is 1:10, and available CNAs fluctuate based on unit census. Respiratory equipment includes BiPAP, Airvo, and other high-flow devices. RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts include: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. Unit schedulers will create the traveler's schedule. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements are as needed to meet unit needs. Floating may occur to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care. Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue for RNs. The first week involves classroom training followed by 2-12 hour shifts on the floor. The unit experiences a busy patient flow, admitting and discharging within the same 6-hour timeframe while also completing shift changes. Attributes that will help make a nurse successful on this unit include a strong sense of teamwork, positivity, and engagement in positive patient experiences. Commitment to bedside reporting and hourly rounding is important. RTO needed upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Additional RTO requests will not be approved. Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting system used is EPIC. BSN required. Care setting is acute. Trauma level is unspecified. Division: Nursing.
