Job Description Slate Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Hastings, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel - Beds: 30 all private, average census 20./n- Nurse : Patient Ratios: 1:4-6/n- Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS/n- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Dementia, post surgical, /n falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer patients, /n COVID./n- Experience: Chest tubes-preferred experience, pain management, /n TPN, CBI, wounds. Charge nurse experience would be a plus but /n not required./n- Are RNs required to titrate drips:/tNo/n- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Charge nurse- will take patients. /n May have to work charge if they have the experience./n- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes, generally have 2-3./n- RT Equipment: Yes- CPAP with RT to manage./n- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: Tele on the floor. /n Monitor techs will read./n- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours 7-7. No self scheduling- do work with /n travelers on block scheduling (accommodate as much as possible)./n Travelers will fill in gaps of first schedule./n- Weekend Requirements: Generally every 3rd weekend but may be /n more based on need- they just ask for flexibility./n- Holiday Requirements: Every 3rd holiday- please expect to work one /n of the winter holidays./n- Is there call or a standby requirement?: No requirement. Will only /n give if they have requested to have their scheduled shift off or if /n they volunteer to cancel./n- Floating Requirements: can float to PCU-taking Med Surg overflow /n or very low acuity PCU patients./n- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any solid color- no pattern/design./n- Unit/Department specific orientation: Two days of nursing /n department orientation and one day on the floor.
