Job Description:
Job Description Summary /n Performs screening and diagnostic
breast imaging in accordance with established departmental policies
and procedures to ensure the best possible patient care services
are delivered. Participates in CQI activities. /n/n /n/t - Reviews
radiology exam requests and patient identification to ensure safe,
appropriate, and cost-effective imaging. /n/t - Applies broad range
of skills to ensure exam is completed timely and meets quality and
compliance standards. /n/t - Provides appropriate Mammography
screening process to patients, staff and self according to
prescribed safety standards. /n/t - Responsible for the care and
safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to
minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation
to patients. /n/t - Able to assess patient pain interfering with
imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for
intervention. /n/t - Performs all aspects of patient care in an
environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the
likelihood of medical/health care errors. /n/t - Positions and
shields patients accordingly. /n/t - Keeps procedure room clean and
neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed. /n/t - Assists
in maintaining records and reports. /n/t - Interacts professionally
with patient/family and co-workers. /n/t - Compiles and maintains
quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with
ACR, State of Nebraska Department of Health Standards, the FDA and
the Department of Health and Human Services. /n/t - Provides care
appropriate to condition and age of the patient. /n/t - Thorough
understanding of breast anatomy, positioning, and operation of
equipment including stereotactic biopsy and wire localization. /n/t
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the department manager.
/n /n/n Regulatory Requirements: /n/n /n/t - High school graduate;
BS degree preferred. /n/t - Graduation from an AMA approved school
of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated or hospital
trained. /n/t - Certification by the American Registry of
Radiologic Technologists (AART) in radiography /n/t - Certified in
mammography preferred. /n/t - Certified in the State of Nebraska to
practice and administer radiation. /n/t - 2 years mammography
experience preferred. /n/t - Current BLS certification. /n /n
