Pay: $64 per hour Shift Information: Days Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position Registered Nurse - ICU – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - ICU Location: Kearney, NE Start Date: 03-02-2026 End Date: 06-01-2026 Contract Type: Contract Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts — Day: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM; Night: 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM. Schedule varies (self-scheduling for core staff; travelers are added in). Every-other weekend required; minimum of 2 holidays during the contract. Guaranteed 36 hours/week; 12-hour orientation shift required. Roles & Responsibilities Provide expert, compassionate care to critically ill adult patients in a 33-bed ICU Assess, monitor and interpret telemetry/ECG strips and document findings in EPIC Titrate and manage cardiac, insulin and sedation drips safely and accurately Troubleshoot respiratory equipment and collaborate with RTs on ventilator needs Respond effectively to trauma, stroke and cardiac emergencies as part of the team Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to create and execute patient-centered plans Complete required unit orientation and pass competency assessments to ensure safe practice Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow hospital policies (including infection control and nail policy) Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification required Proven experience with EPIC charting and telemetry/monitor interpretation Comfort and competence titrating drips (cardiac, insulin, sedation) Valid driver’s license at time of submittal (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius) Willingness to complete orientation testing (open-book skills exam; 90% required to pass) Able to meet holiday and weekend requirements for the contract Not eligible if currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) Education Active RN license (state of practice) — required Knowledge & Skills Critical care nursing principles and adult ICU best practices Telemetry and ECG interpretation EPIC electronic health record proficiency Titration and management of vasoactive, insulin and sedation drips Trauma and cardiac care familiarity Ventilator troubleshooting basics and collaboration with respiratory therapy Strong assessment, prioritization and clinical decision-making skills Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings Benefits A supportive ICU team that values your critical-care skills and growth Licensure assistance and reimbursement support to keep your credentials current Paid time off so you can recharge after intense shifts Medical, dental & vision coverage options available Professional development and training (orientation skills refreshers) Flexible scheduling practices with self-scheduling for core staff Opportunity to gain high-acuity experience (trauma, cardiac, stroke) A respectful workplace with clear policies and expectations Apply Now Ready to start your next adventure as a Registered Nurse - ICU?
