preferred but not required Description: Department: Medical
Surgical. Total beds: 30 private rooms with an average census of
20. Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4-6. Common diagnoses include
dementia, post-surgical patients, falls, influenza, pneumonia,
failure to thrive, cancer patients, and COVID. Experience with
chest tubes, pain management, TPN, CBI, and wound care is
preferred. RNs are not required to titrate drips. Charge nurse will
take patients and may have to work as charge if experienced. The
unit has 2-3 nurse aides available. Respiratory therapy equipment
is available, including CPAP machines. Telemetry monitoring is
available on the floor with monitor techs reading data. Shifts are
12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM with no self-scheduling. Weekend
requirements typically are every third weekend, but flexibility is
appreciated. Holiday requirements include working every third
holiday with an expectation to work one winter holiday. No call or
standby requirements are in place unless requested. Floating may
occur to overflow Medical Surgical or low acuity Progressive Care
Unit patients. Uniforms consist of any solid color without patterns
or designs. Orientation includes two days of nursing department
introduction and one day on the floor. Cancellation policy allows
for client cancellation up to 24 hours per 13 weeks at no cost.
