Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/08/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a NE or compact RN license and advanced certifications. Responsibilities - Position is in a hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16 - Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2-3 for adults - Care includes trauma, cardiac, sepsis, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, overdose, substance abuse, and respiratory distress patients - Titration of drips required including all cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation - Works with respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilators - RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitors - Shifts are 12 hours, 0630-1830, with every other weekend required - Floating may occur to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or MedSurg with typical ratios 1:4 or 1:5 - Uses Epic EMR system - Minimum of two holidays within contract are required - Artificial nails are prohibited for patient care staff - Self-scheduling is available for core staff, but block scheduling is not guaranteed for travelers unless weekends only - Nurse aides and healthcare support techs provide assistance based on census and needs - Travelers typically receive one shift of unit-specific orientation - Requests for time off must be provided up front, with a maximum of 7 days per 13-week contract and no additional RTO approved - Holiday coverage for a minimum of two holidays during contract is required Requirements - Active NE or compact RN license required at time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted - Minimum of 2 years recent ICU RN experience required - Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required; pending certifications not accepted - Driver’s license required to confirm address is outside the 50-mile radius - Candidates must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year - Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, another from a peer or supervisor within last 3 years - Must pass a required open book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627291.
