Job Description Summary /n GENERAL SUMMARY: /n/n Responsible for
meeting patient priority needs by assessing, participating in
interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care
and evaluating patient responses and progress toward clinical
outcomes. Contributes to an efficient and effective work
environment through activities including professional communication
and documentation, precepting and/or resourcing of others. /n/n
Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in
the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.
/n/n /n/n PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: /n/n 1. *Commits to the mission,
vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. /n/n
2. *Initiates assessment and reassessment based on the patients
presenting problems/needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers
procedures. /n/n 3. *Synthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing
patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired
outcomes/goals. /n/n 4. *Integrates appropriate standards of care
into the patients plan of care based on the diagnosis and
patient-specific needs. /n/n 5. *Executes therapeutic and/or
supportive interventions. /n/n 6. *Provides education for the
patient and family to meet identified patient needs according to
their needs, abilities, preferences and readiness to learn. /n/n 7.
*Evaluates the patients response to and effectiveness of
interventions. /n/n 8. *Evaluates patients progress toward
established outcomes. /n/n 9. *Incorporates cultural considerations
into the plan/delivery of care. /n/n 10. *Includes family,
significant other, or identified support person in the care of the
patient as appropriate. /n/n 11. *Documents patient care and
related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures
for documentation. /n/n 12. *Provides care in collaboration with
other members of the interdisciplinary team. /n/n 13. *Facilitates
patients transition to the next level of care. /n/n 14. Assumes
responsibility in a shared or delegated assignment and supports
team members practices through timely communication. /n/n 15.
Serves as a role model to colleagues, students and other care
providers. /n/n 16. *Actively participates in continued learning
opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work
unit and duties of the job. /n/n 17. Integrates evidence based
research findings into practice in accordance with policy and
procedure. /n/n 18. Engages in department specific and
organizational performance improvement initiatives. /n/n 19.
Appropriately utilizes all safety equipment when indicated and as
defined by organizational procedure (i.e. lifting equipment, PPE,
sharps, etc.). /n/n 20. Maintains professional growth and
development through seminars, workshops, and professional
affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of
expertise. /n/n 21. Participates in meetings, committees and
department projects as assigned. /n/n 22. Performs other related

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: /n/n 1. Maintains clinical competency as
required for the unit of assignment including but not limited to
population-specific competencies and participates in annual skill
competency verification. /n/n 2. Knowledge of federal and state
regulations related to nursing applications and relative practice
area. /n/n 3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software
applications relevant to work functions. /n/n 4. Ability to
communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. /n/n 5.
Ability to delegate, provide instruction and evaluate the work of
LPNs and unlicensed professional /n/n 6. Ability to maintain
confidentiality of patient information. /n/n 7. Ability to exercise
professional judgment, courtesy and tact in daily interactions with
others. /n/n 8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with health care team members and diverse patient
populations. /n/n 9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
relevant to changing patient needs, including work with patients
with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who
are dying. /n/n 10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual
attendance. /n/n /n/n EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: /n/n Current
Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved
compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse
Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and/or
instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal
standards/regulations. /n /n/n OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
/n/n Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health
recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare
professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals)
and the Military Training Network. /n
