Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/08/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler seeks an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of experience and active NE or compact RN license for a night shift position. Responsibilities - Position is in an acute care hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16 patients - Adult patients with trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress diagnoses - RN to patient ratio is typically 1:2-3 in ICU - Required to titrate a variety of cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation drips - Use of respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilator - Expected to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitors - Uses Epic EMR system - Night shifts are 12 hours long - Every other weekend and minimum of 2 holidays during contract required - Floating to PCU and occasionally MedSurg may be required with adjusted patient ratios - Travelers are added to self-scheduling; block scheduling is not guaranteed - RNs are responsible for titrating medications, monitoring telemetry, and managing advanced respiratory support - Unit support includes nurse aides and healthcare support techs depending on census and time of day - Orientation consists of one unit-specific shift and 12 total hours - Seven or fewer requested days off allowed during 13-week contract; additional time off will not be approved - First-time travelers accepted - Scrub and fingernail policy strictly enforced; artificial nails are not permitted Requirements - Active NE or compact RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted - Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required - Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required - Must provide a copy of driver’s license for permanent address verification - References required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility - No current or recent (past 12 months) employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity health systems in any capacity - Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license address - Must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% - Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care settings Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628627.
