Orthopedic trauma experience - Ability to scrub for cranial
procedures independently - Experience with orthopedic total joint
procedures Description: The position requires a candidate who
scores 3s in neuro. It is important that the candidate is competent
to take Neuro-trauma call. Candidates should be able to
independently perform cranial procedures. Experience with total
joint and level II trauma is specifically sought. Techs must have
orthopedic trauma experience along with general OR experience. The
unit has 11 operating rooms with an average of 18 cases per day.
Common cases include orthopedics, urology, ENT, neuro, backs, and
cranial procedures. Techs must be able to scrub for cranial
procedures independently. There is no requirement for RNs to scrub.
A manager and charge nurse are present daily, but charge nurses do
not take an assignment. Shifts are 8 or 10 hours starting at 0700,
Monday through Friday, with the same schedule week to week. Call is
somewhat self-scheduled, requiring one weeknight per week until
0700 the next morning. Additionally, three weekend days per month
are required, with 24-hour shifts. Holiday call is needed as
required. The response time for calls is 15 minutes. There are no
floating requirements. Scrubs are provided, and there will be one
week of orientation. A strong work ethic is essential for success
in this fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a positive
attitude and a willingness to speak up about patient safety.
Flexibility is required, and travelers must be willing to float and
work when needed. Travelers cannot be assigned block scheduling or
identical shifts. The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per
13-week assignment. The charting system used is Epic Systems
Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient - EMR.
