Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a
qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist
in the diagnosis of patient medical problems. Assists with
coordinating the flow of patients and patient calls to facilitate
quality patient care and customer service goals.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently

2. *Performs clinic reception including greeting patients, patient
registration and answering the telephone.
3. Assists with rooming clinic patients by obtaining vital signs,
height and weight and prepares patient for visit.
4. Assists the medical provider with examinations and procedures
under the direction of the medical provider or Registered
Nurse.
5. *Prepares patient for x-ray; explains procedures to patient
and/or family; prepares room, equipment and materials as
needed.
6. *Positions patient and arranges immobilization and support
devices for patient.
7. *Practices radiation protection/safety techniques to limit
exposure to patient and medical staff.
8. *Adjusts equipment controls; determines proper voltage and
exposure time; administers routine x-ray exams.
9. *Observes patient and machine during procedure; reports unusual
occurrences to physician.
10. *Documents procedure performed in patient record.
11. *Maintains CD library of x-rays taken; retrieves and logs
x-rays requested or copies made for patients or referring
physicians.
12. *Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment; maintains
inventory and orders x-ray supplies.
13. *Performs x-ray quality assurance tests and maintains x-ray
quality assurance records.
14. *Transmits x-ray images to radiology group for interpretation;
completes follow-up of x-ray transmission with phone call; ensures
hard copy of report is given to physician for review and
notation.
15. *Reports any problems with x-ray equipment promptly to
physician; notifies Office Supervisor of equipment problems and
calls appropriate service vendors as directed.
16. *Turns in personal radiology exposure badges for evaluation as
required by state law.
17. Recognizes and reacts to emergency procedures per role and
policies/procedures.
18. Assists with patient care that is consistent with standards of
care and clinical priorities determined by the RN, physician or APP
with the nature of the clinic, BPN policies and procedures,
demonstrated competencies, and with consideration given to risk
management and infection control practices.
19. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars,
workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest
trends in field of expertise.
20. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as
assigned.
21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technologist
program required. Current certification by the American Registry of
Radiological Technologists (ARRT) required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health
recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare
professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals)
and the Military Training Network.
If employee will be performing CMA work in any capacity - the
following requirements must also be met: High School diploma or
equivalency required. Certification as a Certified Medical
Assistant (CMA), Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required. Current listing on the
Nebraska Medication Aide registry required. Graduation from a
Medical Assistant (MA) program preferred.
