Job Title: Physician Assistant or Advance Practice Registered NurseDepartment: Emergency Room FLSA Status: ExemptReports To: Chief Nursing Officer Emergency Room - Critical Access HospitalOn-Call rotation required (Rotated 24-hour weekday/48-hour weekend shifts among 4 ER Providers) resulting in 3-5 day stretches off within natural rotation - Can share schedule on request.Accommodations for overnight available onsite. On-Call rotation of every 4th weekend (Saturday 0800 - Monday 0800) among 4 ER Providers Holiday Rotation required (Holidays rotated equally among 4 providers)Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:PA-C or APRN will manage the health care needs of patients as allowed by their scope of practice and privileges granted to them. Initiate appropriate management for emergency situations, notify the physician on call, and manage the emergency situation until the physician is available or with appropriate consultation or patient referral is made. Obtain medical histories and perform medical examinations and evaluations Diagnose, treat, and consult with patientsOrder and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, such as laboratory tests and radiologic examinations Prescribe medication; perform procedures and coordinate treatment; provide health education and guidance regarding treatment; communicate with and counsel family membersDemonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patientsPossess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their specific needs and to provide the care needed, adhering to Medical Staff Bylaws and Policies and ProceduresEducation and/or Experience:Currently licensed in the State of Nebraska as a Physician Assistant or Nurse PractitionerBoard Certified in the respective fieldBLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications required within first year of employmentResponsible for maintaining continuing education per license requirements.Proficiently use computer and health information management system.
